Social Enterprise Academy


Each year, students participating in the Social Enterprise Academy are matched with a non-profit organization and attend an eight-session workshop series to help participants select the best enterprise idea, conduct market research, and create a business plan. Each organization is paired with a group of students to go through this curriculum and assist in the venture development process. The purpose of this program is to help each participating non-profit develop a revenue generating venture that strengthens the mission of the organization. Students gain valuable teamwork, business development, and presentation skills. In addition, each organization is matched with experienced private sector entrepreneurs who coach them in preparing for a business plan competition. At the end of each year, students and their matched non-profit organization have the opportunity to pitch their business venture to a panel of angel investors, venture capitalists, and non-profit industry experts for the chance of winning up to $30,000.
