Karen Baker, Chief Service Officer of CaliforniaVolunteers joined Partnership UCLA / Alumni Career Programs to share her career path from graduating with a degree in Sociology to holding a cabinet seat as Secretary of Service.

Ms. Baker’s 20 years of service includes local and national nonprofits, federal agencies, “action tanks” (action-oriented think tanks) and more. She has been pivotal in addressing economic, environmental and social issues such as hunger, homelessness and youth services.

Ms. Baker discussed her career path and answered questions on how to create a successful career in public service.
